Function Follows Form <\/strong><\/p>\n

In architecture, form follows function. Tell me what you want to use the building for, and I\u2019ll tell you how to build it. But in human beings, it\u2019s the exact opposite. Function follows form. Figure out how God shaped you and how He wired you, what He\u2019s given you in spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality, and experience. Then you\u2019ll know what you\u2019re supposed to do with your life.<\/p>\n

Did you know that God has specific work for you to do while you\u2019re on this planet? God doesn\u2019t put people on Earth without giving them a life\u2019s work. Your life\u2019s work involves your job or your career. Work is a part of God\u2019s purpose for your life. He didn\u2019t put you on Earth just to be placeholder and use up resources. He put you here to make a contribution, and your contribution is based on your SHAPE.<\/p>\n

How do you know what your calling is? Just look at your SHAPE \u2014 your spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality, and experiences<\/p>\n

God never gives you work to do without giving you the ability to do it. That\u2019s why you have spiritual gifts. They\u2019re lying dormant in you until you decide to discover them and develop them.<\/p>\n

Many surveys have shown that most Americans are in the wrong job, and it\u2019s because they\u2019re not shaped to do it! They\u2019re in a job primarily for economic reasons, not because it\u2019s fulfilling or they\u2019re good at it or they\u2019re shaped for it.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re in a job that\u2019s not using the shape that God has given you, then get out of it. Life is too short to waste it on a job that doesn\u2019t express who you were made to be. God did not put you on Earth to make money. What matters is what God has shaped you to do.<\/p>\n

The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 12:4-6, \u201cThere are different spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit gives them. There are different ways of serving, and yet the same Lord is served. There are different types of work to do, but the same God produces every gift in every person<\/em>\u201d (GW).<\/p>\n

Knowing your spiritual gifts answers questions like, \u201cWhat\u2019s God\u2019s will for my life? What does God want me to do with my life? What kind of job, what kind of career should I have? What should be my ministry? What should be my mission in the world?\u201d Gifts explain where you should be headed. They shape your work.<\/p>\n
